I don’t get the sudden love for eggs in the US. We are not even in the top 10 countries in eggs consumption. We fucking eat cereal for breakfast, why are we all of a sudden going crazy about eggs? 😂
You still need them for many recipes, and it is not like consumption was 0, the ones that consumed then still are affected, even if overall consumption is lower than in other countries.
Lol. I guess. I personally used to eat 6 - 8 eggs for breakfast. I now eat only 2 because of the prices, but man, I’m not freaking out about it. People run to the stores and buy it all whenever it is $0.01 cheaper.

It’s not soaring demand but cratering supply that’s spiking prices. Millions of chickens were culled due to bird flu and so there’s an egg shortage.
Worth noting the US seems to be harder hit than other countries because of how densely they pack hens together.

Won’t you think of the crash diets!
I really want to know why a poached egg might be necessary!

How you doing Gaston?
With a diet like that he’d be roughly the size of a barge!
