I like to think of tankies as Anakin Skywalker in that scene on the Grass with Padme. Anakin is gently explaining his hopes for the future, the wonderful world he wants to build, but when asked if people disagree he says “then they’ll be made to”, revealing his authoritarian streak. To anakin, like the tankie, seems obvious that an ultimate authority is necessary to shepherd the people into their eventual utopia, by force if necessary.

Many recognize the goal of a far left state is to whither and die, but the tankie forgets that power begets power. A dictatorship of the prolietariat is all well and good until a well spoken wolf in the finest wool takes the reigns. Power does not corrupt; rather i believe it is corruption that seeks power, and like dragons those corrupted by power will not give it up, and will do anything for more

    if there’s one thing imperialist propaganda is good at more than anything it is instilling a deep-rooted chauvinism in its populace that persists even as the individual sheds capitalist brainworms

    biggest dweeb in that thread called Russia authoritarian communist. it’s not even like China where there’s arguments from every tendency about state capitalism worker control yadda yadda. If you dont even know that a country that explicitly does not call itself communist, even socialist, that arose from the illegal dismantling of the nominally socialist nation that preceded it, is very obviously not communist, then what the fuck do you know about communism. why are you running your mouth about how people who subscribe to these tendencies aren’t real communists when you clearly don’t know jack shit about the revolutionary struggles of the oppressed peoples who developed these schools of thought in their fight to throw off the shackles of colonizers and imperialist oppressors??
