A burn that would make Chen Weihua proud. Chud tries to pretend like they care about science education in order to hide their bigotry (we know what they mean when they rail against “diversity in academia”) but they can’t even get basic math right.

    5x wouldn’t be so bad because China is like 4.5x the population. This means China is producing 2x the stem grads per capita and that is pretty serious.

      Correct. However (see my reply to the other comment), some people, for instance US government agencies, are making the argument that the way China classifies STEM is too broad and thus the numbers are allegedly not comparable. Also this is 2016 data.

      • If that number isn’t higher than 9 by now, it will be soon, China is about to start investing more in education, whereas the USA seems to be taking a “education is for the rich” attitude.
