And, the below is certainly not robust data, but also the Google Trends support my observations. “Trump Greenland” beats everything but bird flu by more than 3x right now.

Don’t forget the democrats specifically Kamala Harris not showing up for the tie breaking vote, losing a NLRB seat 2 years early because they fucking hate the working class and can no longer pretend otherwise. Fuck the democrats!!!

The average cost of a dozen large grade-A eggsrose to $3.65 in November — a whopping 40% increase from January 2024, according to the latest available data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

$3.65? Is this that outrageous or unusual? They had to go all the way back 11 months to find the most egregious differential to report on it? And mention November prices while it’s January? How about we dig back to 2016 when eggs (doz grade A) were, guess what, $3.65? They were $3.65 in 2020, also for a dozen grade A. 2019, apparently as well. So it seems egg prices vary a lot, $3.65 average for a dozen grade A eggs is not unusual.

E: the last .gov financial data for average dozen grade A eggs is only available for November. I’d expect egg prices to go up with avian flu issues, but reporting on egg prices IMO really smacks of the social media propaganda glut leading up to the election that complained about egg prices being $7 or something while they were (average) $3.65 or less.

i think it’s less that “this is unusual” and more that “this is another in a long line of things that is making it hard for people right now also trump literally promised to deal with this but he’s out here yapping about the panama canal right now”

No one cares about Palestinians anymore because everyone knows they are already cooked. Their best shot was Kamala. Trump/Musk doesn’t give a crap and will happily send more money/weapons to Israel.

As an LGBTQ person I don’t really care. The tolerance was always fake and performative. As someone who grew up in the hate filled 90s I was always suspicious of our “acceptance”. Apparently for good reason. It was never real.

Criticizing Biden is basically giving Trump the presidency for life. Don’t you know he’s the greatest living president ever to exist between a president whose been elected for non-consecutive terms? /s

Partly i think the issue is constant news cycle.

If we limit companies ability to report on issues once and then amend rather then beating their dead horses it might get better

I think the solution is just journalists with higher standards.

        Headlines should read:

Trump tries to distract nation from his CRIMINAL sentencing by making absurd claims about Greenland.

And the reporting should follow the same line. Mention the absurd claims and then go RIGHT back to reporting on the thing he doesn’t want everyone talking about.

You literally published a link to a news site article for the thing that is supposedly forgotten at the bottom of the swimming pool.
