I know this is a shitpost, but treads are not durable compared to good ol’ tires. I’ve heard that setups like this require frequent maintenance. They’re certainly more capable of handling certain kinds of terrain, but tires last longer and are simple to replace.
Yeah, and for the cost they could’ve easily got a suspension lift and a really good set of off-road tires and wheels. Snow tires with studs would probably perform better.
The only specific use case I could think of is spreading out the weight/pressure for driving on ice but maybe an old van isn’t the right tool for the job…
