minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up30·13 hours agoThey smell SO BAD. I was super sensitive to it as a kid, and the smell would be impossible to get off, so I developed a habit of never crushing them.
minus-squareGreyEyedGhost@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7arrow-down1·13 hours agoAs a tool-using species, killing them with something you won’t care about the smell being on seems pretty trivial.
minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up12·12 hours agoIt releases the smell. It stays around in the room.
minus-squareNaz@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·10 hours agoI can’t smell ants but I can smell roaches. Any house or restaurant I walk into that has that signature roach scent, I do a 180° and leave. As to describe the scent of roaches: Pungent, wet/moldy towel smell, worse when they’re dead.
minus-squareScubus@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·6 hours agoWait I thought wveryone can smell roaches
minus-squarehowrar@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up10·10 hours agoWe need people like you as health inspectors.
minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·10 hours agoYou know, I feel like I know that smell as well. Not anywhere NEAR as pungent as the ant smell, but I’ve been in some… Unfortunate situations with enough roaches that I can conjure up that smell.
minus-squareGreyEyedGhost@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5·11 hours agoWell, now I can’t help but wonder if burning them is better or worse.
minus-squareosaerisxero@kbin.melroy.orglinkfedilinkarrow-up3·10 hours agoIn my experience it’s way better, and that having a candle burning will usually clear up the scent of a crush in relatively short order.
minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5·11 hours agoProbably better, I’ve never tried it. I just imagine a bunch of tiny fireballs running around.
minus-squareEvil_Shrubbery@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6arrow-down4·11 hours agoWhy tf would anyone crush ants? Is this a thing?
minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6arrow-down4·10 hours agoLike, killing them? One or two running across a table, and you just pop em?
minus-squareMonkderVierte@lemmy.mllinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·26 minutes agoNo, it’s ugly? I just swish them away.
minus-squareEvil_Shrubbery@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·3 hours agoHuh, oh yeah, like any invertebrate, bcs they are within human space which isn’t allowed. Idk why my brainhole didn’t make the connection, I def know people that kill eg spiders if they see them. I sometimes kill mosquitos that won’t leave via regular ventilation paths.
minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·19 minutes agoSpider Bros can stay. Ants too stinky.
minus-squarephlegmy@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·4 hours agoYou murderer! I hope the smell never washes off your hand, you sick son of a bitch.
minus-squareOokami38@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·19 minutes agoLook, if they wanna stay alive, they can take a shower.
