The parents of a 17-year-old who was so malnourished she weighed as low as 27.3 kilograms are on trial, accused of starving her.
The Perth District Court heard her father refused to take her to medical appointments and “found the whole situation ludicrous”.
She was eventually removed from her parents’ care after they refused to allow a hospital to insert a feeding tube.
Christ I originally thought that was a skinny 8 year old nevermind the fact she’s 17!
Which appears to be deliberate on the part of the parents. Monstrous!
In the hospital they were putting on stuff like the wiggles and having her sing and dance for them, this sounds like a dance moms situation
It’s good that they got there out before she died, permanent damage notwithstanding
There’s more, holy cow. They had false birth certificates for her to get her into dance schools masquerading as a younger age, they’re militantly vegan, she’s homeschooled, and they did creepy infantilizing behavior while she was in the hospital. Like help her brush her teeth and wipe her after going to the bathroom. For her 17th birthday, which was in the hospital, they got her a magnet fishing toy and watched The Wiggles and Frozen! Man, it’s one thing to have a comfort movie or something but this doesn’t sound like that.
They made a bunch of claims like she has a phobia of doctors and started going around saying the hospital kills children. Plus while she was in the hospital she gained weight (obvs) and 3 cm in height!
This poor child.
