I got a switch from a friend awhile ago and didn’t use it much but recently I put 100+ hours in Stardew Valley on that thing.

I play all types of games from racing to shooters, sims to casual. Lately I’m especially drawn to games like Stardew because I hate dealing with boys/men online. No pressure, no hate. Maybe I’m just getting old.

Online gaming is a cesspit that everyone should either avoid or play with everyone perma-muted

Deep Rock Galactic is the exception, the pointy scanner thing means nobody really needs to use chat, much less voice chat. If you look in the chat after most rounds it essentially goes down to these 5 messages:
“r?” (you guys ready to start this event?)
        “r” (I am ready)
        “gg”
“engie can I get a platform here?” (to mine minerals out of reach)
“gunner can you put zips around the core stone?” (a lot of noob gunners don’t know that you can set up ziplines to avoid most of the enemies in an event)

In my 1,000 hours the worst thing I’ve seen was being kicked from the lobby when I was new for dieng repeatedly because I joined a way harder difficulty than I could deal with. That one was on me lol.

You’re not getting old. The hate is real.

I’ve put countless hours into Rainbow 6 Siege, Escape from Tarkov, League of Legends, CoD Warzone, all back when my guy friends were still interested in these games. I loved these games to death, but some of the most vile shit ever said to me were said when I played alone.

When my friends and I moved on to other games, I wanted to play these on my own and just couldn’t. Without them, I had to mute myself or get graphic rape and death threats. I went with it for a while and thought I could tough it out, but I couldn’t. These days I just soloqueue league on a new account without a feminine name.

But yeah, I agree it’s a breath of fresh air to play games without the hate.

I’m a guy and I hate dealing with boys/men in online games too. I love Stardew Valley as well! The game got me interested in real life gardening as a hobby!

That’s interesting! I love that in transitioned into something tangible. I tried to get some house plants but I keep forgetting to water them.

I struggled a lot with watering early on! Overgrown plants in small pots have almost no water capacity in the soil. Plants you buy from the nursery are frequently overgrown for their containers and need to be transplanted relatively soon after you bring them home.

Also tricky is that if you put a plant in too large of a pot then the water capacity of the soil will be too high and then the plant can come down with root rot!

Now I’ve gotten used to checking the soil, especially at the bottom of the pot, for dryness and then watering as needed. It also depends on the plant species (plants can vary all the way from desert-loving dry species to fully aquatic plants)!
