Not commenting on the game, just wanted to say thank you for this format! It’s lovely to behold compared to the megathread text dumps we’ve gotten used to on the site-that-shall-not-be-named! Good work!

edit: minor note - you have a typo, it should be “aggregated”

I downloaded it this morning for my kids and I to play. I tried it out and got sucked in for about 30 min. The platforming was fun and movement was quick and responsive. The art and humor are similar to the newer Mickey cartoons which my kids absolutely adore. It seems like it will be fun for family game night.

It honestly looks a bit bland, like they were going for Rayman Legends but ended up with something closer to flash games. I guess kids will still enjoy it, but it’s a pass for me.

I really hate this art style with a passion. It’s fine for random people making no-budget flash animations in the mid-2000s, but really a waste of potential for a company (and IP holder) like Disney.

They have the perfect expressive 2D friendly art style already made for them in Steamboat Willie - channeling that style instead could make for a very charming artstyle at a low budget. If not, Cuphead has proven that postwar cartoon style can work incredibly well for 2D performers.

Then again, I guess I’m not the targeted audience. I’m sure this style is popular with the kids, and it’s not like I would buy a Disney product anyway.

You are totally spot on. Basically a shittier version of Rayman legends, across the board. That’s too bad, as that’s a great game to copy.

lol, happens. Someone mentioned Tears of the Kingdom (ToK) in our weekly thread, and I read it as Tik Tok.

Does anyone know if this is a Switch exclusive or not? For some unknown reason I can’t seem to find this info on this game.

I like the scores being in a vertical column, but I don’t like that they’re so far from the site and author. Overall this is better, though.

I would’ve look into markdown, I don’t think you can modify the width of columns, but will look it up.

      Thanks for your feedback!

I’m surprised by how cheap it looks. It’s not just the style, it’s simply that even with the style, things looks as low budget it could be.

As a family game, you can pass on the simple mechanics, but at least, give us visuals.

Not even close. Cuphead is a run & gun shooter, this is a Metroidvania. Cuphead is intentional hand drawn throwback art, this is Disney’s current iteration of the mouse and friends art style.

The only similarity is that both use cartoon drawings.

I don’t know… Looks more like a metrodvania style jump n run with up to four player. Cuphead is a gun and run shooter with an emphasis on boss rush elements but little to no exploration.

Even as a Cuphead knockoff, I’ve liked the new Mickey Mouse shorts done in this art style. Although the art in a game can only take you so far.
