I just wanna browse all without getting spammed with posts.

It’s stupid that Lemmy doesn’t have an NSFL tag after decade of people complaining that reddit doesn’t have one. but I’ll settle for this.

Would be fantastic if they added NSFL and Ecchi tags. Because NSFW is too fuzzy, this has been argued to death on reddit. Surprised they didn’t adjust it for Lemmy.

Why would there be a dedicated tag for Ecchi? Once people start doing that, you are down the road to meaningless, one-time use hash tags that offer no value and actually decrease people’s ability to filter for topics.

I get that there should be an option to filter out sexual and violent content independently of each other, but those filters should be very broad categories and not serve as organizational mechanism for the individual preferences of users.

Also, if you introduce a rating system, who will handle the additional moderation load, checking out in which category each particular content instance falls. I don’t see it.

Maybe ecchi wouldnt be the name of it, perhaps lewd or something. I think the idea is to have a lower level of still being somewhat sexual, but not necessarily full on nudity/sex or violence. Pretty sure they just said ecchi because of the relatively well understood distinction between hentai and ecchi in that teamrealm of things.

          Yeah that’s precisely it.

The semantics are unimportant just want to establish a gradient instead of a boolean condition.

You can block communities one at a time. Once you get “All” mostly under control, you only have to worry about new ones that pop up.

I remember starting on Lemmy going “Wow, that’s a lot of furry porn… block block block…”

programming.dev by default hides NSFW communities + politics, so you won’t see them in c/all unless you subscribe to them. I’m sure there are other instances that does something similar as well.

    Use another account for NSFW?

When I did read about this a year a go, makes so much sense, then I did it, and it is been a very good experience.

    Maybe:

    • A gallery mode to show only images.
    • An automatic mode like Eternity (client), like a digital photo frame.
    • Shuffle mode.
