- Get Firefox
- Get uBlock Origin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
Alternatively. Get Adnausem
It is built on top of ublock origin and will “click” on the adverts behind the scenes and make advertisers think you like a product messing with your advertising profile.
It also has a nice AdVault so you can see what advertisers are trying to push onto you.
Step 1 is critical because ad blockers on Chrome (for obvious reasons) have some limitations. Even the developer of uBlock origin recommends Firefox: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/uBlock-Origin-works-best-on-Firefox
Adblock Plus sold themselves out so fucking bad lmao
I believe what they’re referencing is sites that require you disable your ad blocker to access; they’re saying you will be able to bypass those gates while keeping your ad blocker enabled
Still enshitification though. Fuck everything about this
If you’re going to spend €40, you might as well get a Raspberry Pi and setup a PiHole. You cam also run your own Mastodon server and Lemmy instance on it if you set them all using Docker.
Just get uBlock Origin instead. Years ago I made the switch and never looked back!
Why the fuck are people still using adblock? They did a similar thing many years ago already, which is when ublock properly took off.
