everyone’s entitled to spend their money how they want, just like i’m entitled to call them stupid
I will commend these people in one aspect, I don’t think I’m that passionate about anything to care about playing it 3 days or a week later.
Let alone a sports game
I don’t play sports games but am a huge college football fan, passionate doesn’t really even begin to cover it
Isn’t it more like $20 or whatever the difference is between the regular version and this special edition? Still kind of dumb, but at least it is a bit more reasonable.
$30 for the early access plus a bit of micro transaction currency.
Questionable value, but a terrible headline.
So prorata its $10 per day?
I’m not buying NCAA so I didn’t do it (and won’t do any ultimate team nonsense or pay at all for early access), but there was a bundle of the $100 NCAA and Madden deluxe editions for $150 on PS5, so only $10 extra if you were going to buy both.
Worth noting that a lot of the people buying are doing it because they’re playing the awful Ultimate team cash vacuum and they aren’t actually “spending extra” for early access and would have bought the same version without it.
I mean, sports enjoyers have historically been EA’s go to rubes.
Sports fans are willing to put up with a lot of abuse. Probably the segments that is blasted with the most advertisements, gambling, so overpaying for an annual sports game is no surprise. They pay mtx on top of that too.
All fucking idiots.

Interesting that this works on regular people. I always thought of it as the streamer tax, didn’t think they would try it on a sports game. I mean, most of the time those are just roster updates anyways, I’m surprised anyone would pay to get early access.
I did not realize that this game had launched. I didn’t even know what had early access. But, if I had known that the new college football game was available a little bit early, I would have bought it and played with my homies this weekend.
It’s been a real long time since we’ve had a college football game of any type and is someone who is way more into that version of American football than the professional one, I’m stoked that this is coming out.
Also, pre-orders are bad, EA is a terrible company, college football is exploitation, etc…
Ahh that helps explain it, I don’t follow closely so I assumed it was just a standard annual release like NHL/Madden/FIFA etc, not a “once in a while” like some of the smaller leagues.
Although because this worked on this release, they’ll definitely try it on a major league one next. My bet is NHL because that will ruffle less feathers, then if that goes well it will make it to Madden & EA FC, the cash cows.
They’ve been doing this tactic for a few years now. Not a new thing tbh.
It’s presumably going to be annual.
They stopped because of legal issues related to players not being compensated for virtual players that were clearly modeled on their traits. They’re coming back because the NCAA being forced to abandon the whole “amateur” premise means they can do licensing more legitimately.
The big thing here is people have been clamoring for this to come back for a decade, the last version released was in 2014.
