Patton basically wanted to continue the war of extermination. from Losurdo’s Stalin:

There clearly emerges a line of continuity with the Nazi understanding of communism as a subversive Judeo-Bolshevik conspiracy: the enemies continue to be the communists, the Soviets and the Jews, the latter being “lower than animals."
