    When I think of literacy and news, I definitely think Mississippi is the direction a place that birthed Powell’s should be going. It goes without saying also that media is in dire need of consolidation.

        Florida is ranked #1 in their methodology…USnewsandReports, The same site that popularized “college rankings” in the 90s and was hardly scientific about it.

        https://www.nea.org/sites/default/files/2024-04/2024_rankings_and_estimates_report.pdf This is probably a better source with the data chopped up in useful ways to consider, that said MS did rank higher than I would have assumed based on my understanding they’ve long had the highest or among the highest for adult illiteracy rates which don’t tend to correlate with what anyone would agree are good education systems.
