There should be consequences to blatant lies from the media and our politicians.

There are, already; their preferred candidates usually get a bump in polling. Why let the truth stand in the way of that?

They’ll just flip it and go see, we were right, the left are terrorists!! There needs to be enforced legislation. News should be news. It has to be factual and unbiased. Instead, we have corporations saying whatever the hell they want so their guy gets in and hurts the people they hate while giving them tax breaks.

News should be like the Michelin star system. One star means you are following basic reporting practices and can call yourself “reporters”. 4 star is “news” and you are held to stringent fact checking and balanced reporting practices and can call yourself News or have News in your name. 5star would be super special paragon of journalism, opinion-free reporting of facts thing. Zero stars would be “just asking questions here!” level.

No censorship or anything, just an indicator of how reliable sources are. And make it mandatory to display like their channel bug in the corner, but a restaurant grade type thing.

The problem still is, people will ignore that. Look at how many suckers believe fox “news” now? It wouldn’t change anything.
