minus-square@isles@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglish6•14 days agoThey don’t have to - if the penalty is a fine, then it’s just the cost of business. Everyone is fine with the system - as long as the profits gained from breaking the rule are bigger than the fine, behavior won’t change.
I can’t wait for The supreme Court to invalidate this and rule that fining corporations is unconstitutional… for reasons.
