How do they afford to drink at an airport if they’ve had difficulty finding work? Also, damn, can’t smoke at airports anymore.

Actually you can, even in the US, although it’s limited to major international airports. The terminal smoking area is like a giant room with industrial ventilation and double “air lock” type doors

I think that’s only available at a select few airports now. I saw one in Phoenix many years ago, but I’ve never seen one in Seattle SEATAC or any other major airports, possibly because I stopped looking for them. I used to pay extra to fly through Colorado instead of Phoenix because you could smoke in the airport bar in Colorado, while looking at a beautiful mountain backdrop. It was also just an all around better airport.

Last time I was ATL, it had dedicated smoking rooms, looked like a fucking smog aquarium.

That’s exactly how I’d describe them too. I used one one time. It was so much worse inside than it looked from outside. You don’t even need to spark your own, just walk in and inhale a couple times, and leave coughing your ass off.

I’d rather go back through security every time (probably because I used to work at an airport that didn’t have smoking areas, so had to go through security multiple times a day).

When I had longer layovers (more than 2 hours), like the 13 hour one when I shipped out from basic, I just hung out outside looking homeless for the duration, because it beat going through security.

(Don’t smoke kids; I quit years ago and it was never good)

Noice! I don’t smoke any more, but I have a lot of empathy for smokers after being addicted for a couple decades myself.

        • Yeah we gotta understand everybody has their own journey.

In the last few years I’ve stopped abusing Xanax, Codeine, Cocaine, and most recently weed. Rest assured cigarettes are the next thing to go. I’ve never had an issue with alcohol but not drank in a decade so I might as well become a monk at this point.

I’m still an addict, just try to be addicted to healthier things you know.

I quit all nicotine and picked it up again after I quit drinking. Like you said, I was feeling like a boring monk or something. I needed some sort of vice! I’m just vaping now though, so I don’t freak out if I can’t have it like I would with cigarettes. I once walked 10 miles to the store to get cigarettes. I would never do that for vape.

            • Yeah it’s crazy what addiction will do to you.

I’m scared to vape as they taste so nice and I’d rather just put some patches on, have some freaky dreams and quit cigs again.
