Surely it’s not a stretch to see how statements like “they should be given special treatment, but not allowed to [be] in charge of anything more complicated than a butter knife” leads straight into eugenics.

I hate to both-sides this, because the people covering up Nex’s death are monsters, but discourse like this is nearly identical to the things the transphobes are saying.

We have to find solutions for these social problems that aren’t authoritarian or lean into eugenics. In the case of trans rights, I think that’s by appealing to peoples desire to have freedom of self expression.

It’s such a leap as to be almost satirical sounding.

We don’t let children be in charge of things, do we sterilize them?

I don’t even agree with the fact that they shouldn’t be allowed to be in charge of things, but the fact that you went straight to eugenics is on you, and quite obviously not part of the original posters intent.

            The parent post says:

Remember, conservative brains are literally abnormal. They have enlarged regions dealing with fear and disgust.

This reminds me strongly of the pseudoscience surrounding phrenology and how that was used to discriminate against minorities.

Furthermore, the post goes on to say:

They should be given special treatment, but not allowed to in charge of anything more complicated than a butter knife.

This sort of language leads straight into justifying discrimination based on physical attributes. Advocating for the removal of self determination from political groups should always be given massive side-eye.

These transphobes’ ideologies need to be rejected on their merits, not by saying, as one of the replies says, “this needs to be brought up daily till our republican buddies realize they are becoming a sub class of underperformed human.”

This is more than flirting with the language of eugenics.

In this case, the changes to the brain are due to ideology, and the way they think is quite literally different. It’s also been shown that it can be reversed.

It’s similar to the way porn addiction changes the way you perceive the world. Everything becomes a trigger, everything is sexualized. In the conservative mind, everything is out to get them.

Now, does that mean they should be hunted down and culled? Of course not, because that’s insane. Just like we don’t hunt down addicts, ADHD individuals, or dyslexic individuals. All of which have abnormal brain changes that can somewhat be measured with scientific tooling.

But I feel the need to point out, ADHD individuals are barred from attaining a pilots license without going through more rigorous testing to show they are up to the task. Yet we let any old village idiot run the government.

I’m not arguing what to do with conservatives, I’m pointing out the authoritarian language being used here as hypocrisy.

You can’t ever truly get rid of undemocratic elements of a society while remaining democratic, because the only way to do so is undemocratic.

In the fight against fascism we must preserve democracy. I want accountability for these people, but not through vigilante justice, or authoritarian government actions. Remember how terrible it was when Trump separated refugee families at the border and ICE intentionally didn’t keep records to prevent families from being reunited later?

If we empower the government to do that sort of thing to undesirables, it could be used by fascists or otherwise authoritarian figures to punish those who disagree with them.

Except we absolutely should corral and restrict conservatives. They’re literally trying to kill us all. There’s ZERO “both-sides” here.

The alternative is a regime of idiots. Pretending that religious and conservative people have the full mental capacity is not getting us very far. Trump and his supporters are a perfect example. These people are fucking hypnotized and dangerous in their idiocy. They should 100% not be allowed to make important decisions.

If you dont allow Nazis to exist the tables can’t turn.

You people ALWAYS argue from the standpoint of defending Nazis and pretending they’ll be nice when they get control if you’re nice to them.

You dont know who you’re dealing with.

Why does everyone always pick me to yell things I don’t disagree with on here? I made a comment that creating a weapon like that would be dangerous in anyone’s hands. What does that have to do with giving Nazis an inch?

Most of the time I hear that argument it 's always “if we do that, they’ll do it back when they get power, so we shouldn’t do that!” People act wildly surprised that fascism is on the rise, but try telling them that the fascist talk shows saturating our airwaves need to be stopped and they’ll say you’re the real fascist for stifling free speech. NEVER have I heard any of them say “yes, we need more socialist and leftist options in broadcast media.” They’ll tell you that it’s about money, but who is funding fascist radio?..not the listeners.
