Families of Israeli captives obstructed on Thursday the entry of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for the second day in a row, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

According to Haaretz, the families, along with right-wing activists, blocked the passage of aid trucks to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossing.

Protesters reportedly closed the road to the crossing and prevented trucks loaded with humanitarian aid from passing.

“We are here today to show (Israeli) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he can stop the trucks, just as we are stopping them now,” Dany Elgart, a brother of one of the captives, reportedly said, adding:

“I call on all citizens: come to the checkpoint and stop this humanitarian aid with your bodies. It is not humanitarian at all because it only serves one segment of the population there. The hostages there do not receive any humanitarian aid.”

The aid comes from abroad and is transported through Israel, which announced the closure of crossings to the Gaza Strip on October 7, according to Anadolu news agency.

On October 9, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip. “We are fighting human animals, and we are acting accordingly,” Gallant said.

I dont think its for revenge. The idea is to hold off all aid to pressure hammas to release the hostages. They will never release them as long as aid and food and medicine is going in.

Calling Palestinian civilians animals and refusing to allow them food and medical supplies isn’t going to improve the situation. What do you think is going to happen? Is Hamas going to say “oh guys, I think we made them mad this time. Better release the hostages so they don’t do anything violent!”?

I was referencing Israel’s official comment on the matter from the article. This is what you’re defending by supporting Israel in this situation:

On October 9, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip. “We are fighting human animals, and we are acting accordingly,” Gallant said.

With 25,000+ lives taken by Israel, many of them women and children civilians, you can’t make the argument he’s not talking about treating civilians like animals.

There you go. Dehumanizing Palestinian people. Claiming you don’t mean all of them doesn’t make a bit of difference. There are lots of really horrific people, but they’re still human beings and we must not forget that. Using your language to claim otherwise is how this genocide is being allowed to happen. You’re literally using Nazi language. You’re disgusting.

The thought process is that hammas is the governing body of Gaza and is responsible for its civilians. It would be in his best interest and its civilians to just return the hostages. Otherwise how would you put pressure on hammas to give back the hostages?

What should be done in your opinion for hammas to return the hostages safely and alive?
