Over a million Russian soldiers are dead

Questionable. According to Ukrainian posters which should be taken with a grain of salt.

Also, COVID killed about a million russians, 2 millions die yearly. So having 1 additional million people dead in 3 years is not a big toll. That’s probably the logic of the Russian government - those who really decide whether to continue the war or not

Sigh. 300,000 dead Russian soldiers have been named by independent media. A million dead is realistic. The number of casualties is in the millions. What number of 100,000s people dead passes the threshold for you?

        https://200.zona.media/

11200 as-of now. Based on your estimate of real casualties= 3x identified casualties it’s more likely to be 300-400 thousand which is already a devastating number way beyond the threshold you have mentioned.

It’s just weird to remind that if a side, any side claims that it has 50 thousand casualties and the enemy is beyond one million, you are being fed with horseshit and you need to just stop eating it.

Independent media like Zona named 112k, while, well, CSIS estimated 250k, which is well lesser than one million.

You too please have a good day and don’t forget to drink enough water

I don’t think they’re a troll, what you stated is a common misconception. And you were wrong initially. Over or underinflating casualty counts is a big deal and it’s best to be accurate. It’s a notoriously difficult thing to measure.

Covid did not kill 1 million work capable men. This war did. On top of Covid. Russia already has shitty demographics before this war and you can’t on top of that have covid and then lose over a million men from your work force without feeling that. Put on top of that all the sanctions it has had, the cost of this war and the cost of restoring it’s military after the beating it has had…

Then if they win they’ll get a razed down country that requires enormous investments in infrastructure but also defense and heavy handed policing. All that requires enormous investments Russia doesn’t have.

If they lose they’ll be made responsible for the recovery of Ukraine wgich, last time I checked, is estimated to be well into half a trillion dollars.

Win or lose, they’re fucked for the next decades at least.

Who are ‘they’? If you talk about people who decide to continue the war - not necessarily: the power and elite are cementing and the probability of toppling Putin is decreasing rapidly with each year of militarization.

If you talk about common people, then I agree, for regular russians that’s a disaster, for a tiny minority - the last opportunity to get rich.

If you equate these categories, you are a delulu
