  • I found KCD II made huge improvements over the first. I mean, that’s natural and kinda stupid to say…but it felt more ‘complete’ to me. The first actually had me a bit overwhelmed - there were too many options, too much to do and see. The second while actually expanding that aspect…well it just felt a bit more focused. To me, anyway.

I did install a lot of mods also, to remove some of what I find tedious, but others adore.

Regardless, KCD is such an achievement!

  • Oh I’ve been obsessed with Expedition 33, it’s SUCH a wonderfully made game. And not my typical choice of game styles either. Turn-based for me can be iffy, but they made it feel…idk kinda unique?

I use so many mods! Mostly Linkle ones - the animations and voice replacement, the armors and cute little things like jewellery etc. But also some like (I’ve forgotten the exact name) a music replacement which makes the music…oh-so-much better. I have played it so many times, though. So I also use a cheat to give me stamina from the outset, not hearts, just stamina. It’s my ‘cozy’ game :)

  • So you’d prefer no solution?

I get the hatred, no one loathes Discord more than me, but on their own time and dime they’re giving an option for those who avoid Discord. I can’t understand why your first, and only thought, is to shit on it.

Discord’s pervasive, and has become the default option for too many projects, but I can see why - it is free, and everyone uses it. Easy for us, who haven’t built a fucking giant program and community to sit back and sneer at how they offer support, but this is it. It’s all done now.

Just be glad they’re giving people an option. This isn’t even a ‘solution’ quote-unquote. It is a solution, that will take time and care and effort. Which they’re doing.

    Jesus.

  • Thank you for the write dot as recommendation, it looks quite nice! I don’t want to give anyone the wrong impression, I am not in this for any kind of money or rewards or views or metrics, nor ads or anything nefarious.

I have been looking at where and how to back these up, but as I say - I want these to be on Lemmy. I believe so strongly in the FOSS alternatives to social media, I had the worst experiences making Reddit and Discord my choices last year (and previously), but since this year, and only choosing places like Lemmy and Mastodon? It’s been such a stark contrast, and a much more positive experience.

Thank you though, as ever Warmaster! I notice you dropped off Matrix and the Revolt server and wondered why! Hope you’ve been well, taking care of you and your family and gaming happily too :)

  • Oh my gosh this is lovely to hear!

I never would have connected those ‘dots’ of using Calibre to send them to the ereader. I LOVE Calibre, I’ve used it forever and I can’t even imagine anyone owning any ereader device without using it. I just loved reading this!

And I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed this Q&A and my posts. That makes me happy! While I appreciate your offer, I just do these to make me happy. I love writing them up, I love trawling through gaming bits and pieces to find interesting things to share, so I’m just endlessly lucky people actually want to read them!

The only thing you could do is share the posts with others, if you’ve the inclination! I think the more who end up on Lemmy, Mastodon or otherwise - the better we’ll all be :)

Thank you again, this was the sweetest!
