It’s always infuriating how the anti-Palestine people are like “well the Palestinians elected Hamas so obviously they support terrorists and deserve what’s coming to them!” When that happened decades ago, there has not been an election since, and most Palestinians today weren’t even born back then. But when Israel elected its current genocidal government much more recently, and whose approval rating has only risen as the genocide continues, it’s suddenly not a reflection of the values of people in Israel.

It is important to acknowledge that the root problem is the concentration of power. It does not matter which side.

When the population gives unrestricted power to their leaders, be that out of fear, desperation, religion or economic reasons, those leaders never give it back. It has to be taken back.

That’s not really true, though. Israel is committing genocide on Palestine because it’s a Settler-Colony and needs to do so in order to continue its existence, and the US backs it because Israel supports US interests in the region. It isn’t a moral failing on the part of the Israeli population, it’s the entire premise of the State of Israel as a Settler-Colonial project.

Colonialism has always been driven by centralized interests. Whether they are after mineral resources, control of trade networks, or acquisition of productive land. It’s always the elite that seek to own, control and exploit.

Whether its the Muslims invading North Africa and the Balkans 500 years ago, or Israel invading Palestine today. They genocide and exploit the local populations for the benefit of the powerful elite.

Kings, Imams, Popes, Rabbis and Dictators are responsible for most of the bloodshed in the region by lying to and exploiting people’s trust.

You’re conflating centralization, which is a natural consequence of the advancement of production and industry, with the motives for profit and wealth accumulation in the property-owning classes. This conflation is undermining the core of your analysis.

    Exactly.

Just like Trump isn’t the problem in America: it’s Americans.

Netanyahu and Trump are not the disease, they are symptoms.

    The problem isn’t Bibi

    The problem isn’t Israel

The problem is the world just standing around looking at people dying and doing absolutely nothing to stop it

Nah the problem is definitely the ones participating in and funding the genocide. I’m not saying that the people standing around doing nothing are all blameless, but claiming that they’re worse than the people actually committing the atrocity is wild.

The bystander behaviour of governments and their citizens is absolutely shameful. Even in Ireland where most people are horrified by the genocide, the government capitulates to the Israeli lobby on every issue of substance. What hope is there …

Western governments are awash with hasbara funds, including the opposition parties - definitely the case here in the UK - allowing lobbying for israeli interests. The israeli web of deceipt runs deep.
