“That means Voters for Responsive Government, which was formed as a political action committee in April, must have taken in all of the donations fueling its multi-million dollar campaign against Jayapal in the three weeks before the election – past the April 30 deadline that would have required the group to disclose its backers before Oregon’s May 21 primary.”

Meaning? Article seems to imply disclosure is voluntary and this isn’t illegal and there will be no consequences for this. Which is outrageous if true but who is doing something about that? If the result is just attention followed by shoulder shrugging, this will become normalized.

They either rigged the donation schedule to avoid disclosure before the election or are outright ignoring the disclosure regulation.

My expectation is they will make the full disclosure after the election when it won’t make any difference.

I mean knowing lets us do something about it, certainly. But now what is being done about it? Surely someone is, even if it’s as little as a law or referendum that would probably never pass. Who can we put pressure on or contribute to?

Even Sally Struthers (fuck am I dating myself - this was before the age of gofundme and the death of broadcast television) had a little 800 number at the bottom of the screen so someone could send money to the starving Ethiopians she was filming dying. But I digress.
